What happened to CharStar AI, and what to use instead
CharStar is gone. Since late September 2025, charstar.ai answers with a Vercel "deployment not found" error, and we found no shutdown notice. Even when it ran, its only written age rule was a 13+ line in the privacy policy, so we would not have listed it as a pick. If you used it, cancel any leftover payment with your bank or app store and pick one of the services below.
Checked on 24 October 2026 through a US connection: charstar.ai itself, its DNS and server reply, and Internet Archive captures of the home page and the 2023 privacy policy. The site is down, so there was nothing to sign up for, chat with or buy. Everything about how CharStar worked comes from archived pages.
What happened to CharStar
On 24 October 2026, charstar.ai loads an error page from its host, Vercel: "This page doesn't exist", code DEPLOYMENT_NOT_FOUND. The domain still points at Vercel, but no site is deployed there.
The Internet Archive shows the home page working until 5 September 2025 and erroring after that. We found no announcement on the site, in the archive or in the company's policy pages explaining why.
What CharStar was
CharStar was a web chat site for community-made characters. The last working capture shows a sidebar with Create, Chats, Earn, Plans and Report, a category bar from Yandere to Celebrities, an NSFW switch and a banner for a new iOS app. The tagline promised "unfiltered virtual characters".
The 2023 privacy policy names Charstar LLC of Albuquerque, New Mexico, as the operator.
Why we would not have picked it
The only age rule we found is in the privacy policy, and it is a 13+ rule written for data collection. We found no archived terms requiring users to be 18 and no rule against sexual content involving minors, even though the site had an NSFW mode. The public catalogue also mixed school-age role-play premises and a Celebrities category into the same library.
If you had an account
In-account deletion no longer works because the site is down. The 2023 policy lists [email protected] for data requests; send your request there and keep a copy, but we cannot confirm anyone reads that inbox.
Check your card and app store statements for any CharStar charge and cancel it there. If you reused your CharStar password elsewhere, change it. Treat apps using the CharStar name with caution: we could not link any current listing to the original operator.
