CraveU AI review: clear prices, loose rules on real people

We opened CraveU from a US connection without signing in, went through the catalog and the pricing page, and read the terms, privacy policy, refund policy, community guidelines and FAQ. We also looked up the App Store listing.

We did not register. CraveU is not on our recommended list because its guidelines allow characters based on public figures. Chat quality, SceneSnap images, memory and the deletion flow are therefore not covered, and no payment was made.

CraveU is a roleplay site run by CozyAI LLC of Jersey City, New Jersey. Creators upload characters and multi-character stories; you chat with them, and SceneSnap draws a picture of the current scene. There is a web version and an iPhone app.

The catalog is illustrated and anime-style, with tags, a gender filter and an NSFW switch. On the day we checked, the top of the public page was dominated by cheating, NTR and family-role scenarios, such as a character billed as your mom after a divorce.

CraveU is one of the few services in this group that prints its prices: Essential $5.99, Pro $14.99 and Ultimate $49.99 a month, with lower monthly rates if you pay for a year. Everything below Ultimate runs on tokens. Each reply uses some, and the page estimates 3M tokens at about 2,000 messages. Top-up packs cost $6, $13 or $28.

Read the plan rows closely. Essential has no unlimited chat and no automatic SceneSnap, and only Ultimate gives unlimited Standard-model messages and images. CraveU doesn't describe any free tier.

The guidelines are firm on age: users must be 18, every character must be 18+ and look it, and "age-baiting" is banned, as is aging up a recognisable children's character. Deepfake pornography of real people is banned too, and photorealistic images aren't allowed at all.

The gap is public figures. The same guidelines say "Only public figures or actors in fictional roles may be depicted", which leaves room for characters built on celebrities. The guidelines also list "explicit pornography" as prohibited while the site sells itself as uncensored NSFW chat.

Refunds are close to impossible: fees are non-refundable once you've logged in, partial months aren't credited, and the FAQ allows exceptions only in "exceptional circumstances". You cancel under Settings, Account, Manage Subscription, and keep the plan until the billing cycle ends. The statement name isn't published.

The FAQ says only you can see your data, but the privacy policy allows using chat content and even typing patterns to train AI models, and uses Google tools for remarketing. Deleting your account is self-service and, per the FAQ, permanent.

It may suit you if you want illustrated, story-heavy roleplay with prices you can check before signing up, and you're fine paying per token.

Skip it if you want a catalog without celebrity-based characters or family-role scenarios, or a refund window. The three services below are on our recommended list.
