HOW WE CHECKED Checked on 23 October 2026 through a US connection. We read the pricing page and PepHop's policies, then signed up for a free account with a disposable email, sent 25 short SFW messages to one character, measured speed and memory, opened the voice-call and checkout screens without paying, and deleted the account. We did not buy a plan or start a voice call.

What we checked on 23 October 2026
We signed up with a disposable email from a US connection, confirmed the address through the link PepHop sent, and set a profile name. The form did not ask us to confirm our age, although the Underage Policy says registration uses an 18+ checkbox.
We picked a soldier character and sent 25 short SFW messages. Message 1 gave a name and a favorite food, and message 8 asked for them back. We then opened the voice-call dialog and the checkout page without paying, and deleted the account from its settings.
What PepHop is
PepHop is a web-only text roleplay site. You choose a community-made character, read a short scene-setting intro, and write back. Replies are long and written like fiction: actions in italics, dialogue in plain text. In our test they ran 255 to 290 words, and several stopped mid-sentence.
The catalog is small for a logged-out visitor and for a new account alike: the home page said "Total 18 characters", while the signed-in pricing page promises access to more than 20,000. We found no search, and no NSFW switch in settings.
What the free trial gets you
PepHop doesn't publish the size of the free trial. For us it ended on message 25 with a "You've Hit Your Limit" pop-up, after 24 replies; two earlier messages hung on "replying" for half a minute and never arrived. After that, the account page said "Trial Limit Hit" and the only ways forward were paying or the Rewards offer of up to 400 extra messages for a social media post about PepHop.
Speed was good. The first words appeared in about two seconds on most messages, and a full reply took 8 to 12 seconds. Memory was not. On message 8 the character claimed to remember us, then called us "[Your Name]" and named pancakes instead of mushroom risotto.
What it costs
The public pricing page shows three monthly plans priced by message count. Sign in, and the same address shows a different offer: Classic or Elite, monthly or yearly, against crossed-out prices with a countdown banner. Yearly Classic works out to $5.99 a month but is billed as $71.93 up front. The cheap $4.99 Lite plan was not offered to our account.
Voice calls are not a separate purchase; they use 12 or 18 messages of your quota per minute. Checkout showed a card form only. The pricing page promises "No adult transaction in your bank statement" but doesn't say what name you will see.
Content rules and what the catalog shows
The Blocked Content Policy bans minors and characters "whose age is not clearly defined as over 18", including aged-up characters from source material, as well as step-family and incest themes, non-consent and real-person bots. Explicit images and avatars are not allowed, so the site is adult text chat rather than an image generator.
The featured list did not fully match those rules on the day we looked. It included a character set at a hero high school from an anime series and one described as a high-school senior. We left them out of our gallery.
Privacy, refunds and deleting your account
The signed-in pricing page says chats are "private and not used for training". The Privacy Policy itself is a generic template that doesn't mention training, and the short Terms of Service (last updated January 17, 2024) license your content for "operating and improving the App".
Refunds are generally not offered; the policy points to the free messages as your trial. Deleting the account took two steps from Account: a reason survey, then a warning that deletion is irreversible and does not cancel a subscription. Cancel any plan first. After deletion, logging in returned "Account not registered".
Who should pick PepHop, and who shouldn't
Pick it if you want long, descriptive text roleplay at a low monthly price and don't need images or an app. The 24-reply trial is enough to judge the writing style.
Skip it if memory matters to you, if you want a large searchable catalog, or if you dislike prices that change after you sign in.
Rules & privacy, in plain English
To access and engage with such content, users must be at least 18 years old or meet the legal age requirement in their country of residence.
Do not create or depict characters who are minors or whose age is not clearly defined as over 18. This includes "aged-up" characters, originally depicted as minors in source material.
We prohibit the creation of bots that are modeled after celebrities or real individuals, including but not limited to text and images.
