Discord allows sexual content between adults, under conditions. These are the points that matter if you plan to run or use a companion bot with adult replies.
You must be 18 or older. Rule 9 of the Community Guidelines says users "must be aged 18 or older to view, gain access to, or participate in adult sexual content on Discord." (Community Guidelines, last updated August 29, 2025.)
Explicit content belongs only in age-restricted channels. Server owners must apply the age-restricted label to any channel that hosts sexually explicit content. Places that cannot be age-gated, such as avatars, bios, banners, server icons, emojis and invite splashes, may not contain it. Content posted outside designated channels can be deleted and the poster banned. (Age-Restricted Content Policy, dated May 12, 2022 on the page; Sexual Content Policy Explainer, August 29, 2025.)
The server owner and moderators must be adults. The Sexual Content Policy Explainer says a server can host sexually explicit content only if "the server owner and moderators are all over the age of 18" and the relevant channels carry the label.
Minors are a hard line, including fiction and AI. The Community Guidelines ban content that sexualizes minors in any form, including "animation, drawing, text, and technical commands or prompts to create media depicting child sexual abuse." The Age-Restricted Content Policy adds that such content "is never allowed anywhere on Discord," age-gated channels included. Characters must be clearly adult, in description and in depiction.
No real people without consent. Rule 10 bans sharing or creating sexually explicit or suggestive content of other adults without their explicit consent. A companion bot modelled on a real person, or one that generates images of real people, breaks this rule.
Age assurance is coming for age-restricted spaces. In its February 9, 2026 announcement, Discord said all users get a teen-appropriate experience by default and "only users who are age-assured as adults will be able to access age-restricted channels, servers, and app commands." Age assurance uses on-device facial age estimation or an ID check with a vendor; Discord says most adults will not be asked because their age is inferred from existing signals. The global rollout was delayed to the second half of 2026, so what you see depends on when and where you use Discord.
