Romantic AI review: hearts, weekly plans and a chat that turns flirty

We passed the 18+ gate, read the terms and content policies, and signed up with a disposable email. The email form spun without finishing, but the account had been created and "Log in" worked at once. No confirmation email and no CAPTCHA appeared.

We then sent eight short SFW messages to a catalog character, opened the Premium price list, looked at the photo generator without running it, and deleted the account from Manage Account. A sign-in attempt afterwards failed, so the deletion went through. We did not pay, open checkout or try the iPhone app.

Romantic AI is run by Just Web It Oy, a company registered in Espoo, Finland. You pick a ready-made girlfriend, boyfriend or anime character, or a Premium user builds one, and chat by text. The catalog is filtered by tags such as Women, Men, Anime, BDSM, MILF, Femdom and Professions, and characters can send photos.

The web app lives at chat.romanticai.com and there is an iPhone app rated 18+. The 18+ gate says the site contains explicit content. One inconsistency: the iPhone listing links to an older set of terms from a company named Zemomedia, dated March 2025, while the web app uses Just Web It Oy documents from September 2026.

Everything runs on two things: a subscription and hearts. When you open the Premium window, a "SEX Mode" switch is already on and the plans read $9.99 a week, $24.99 a month and $69.99 a year. Turn it off and the same plans cost $6.99, $14.99 and $44.99. The difference buys "fully uncensored photos". Prices are displayed per week, so read the smaller grey number to see what you are billed.

Hearts cover messages and photos for free users and extras for everyone. The App Store lists packs from $4.99 for 100 hearts to $14.99 for 1,500. The terms are blunt about refunds: "All subscription purchases are final", with exceptions only for errors on their side or technical faults.

New visitors get 120 hearts before signing up, plus 20 more each day you claim them. A message costs one heart and a photo costs 15, so the free allowance is enough for a real conversation rather than a five-message teaser.

In our eight-message test, replies took 14 to 23 seconds and arrived in one block, usually 30 to 60 words with roleplay actions in asterisks. Asked in message eight, the character correctly recalled the name and favorite food we gave in message one. Our questions were about stress, sleep and books, yet every answer drifted into flirting and innuendo. That is the product working as intended, but it means you do not get a neutral chat by default.

The photo generator works by prompt or by picking traits: a regular or spicy scenario, face or full body, gender, hair, body type and an age row whose lowest option is 18. Character photos in chat are blurred until you spend 15 hearts. We did not generate any images.

You cannot upload your own pictures, and the terms forbid content "resembling specific real individuals", so this is not a face-swap tool.

You cancel from account settings or by emailing support, and Premium runs to the end of the paid period. Deleting the account takes a password and a checkbox and happens immediately; the privacy policy says personal data is then deleted "without undue delay", apart from accounting records.

Two things to know. The terms let Romantic AI use anonymised chat data to train its models, with no switch to opt out. And the sign-up window says "We are not saving or sending your personal data", which sits oddly next to a privacy policy that describes collecting your email and usage data.

Pick it if you want a flirty companion chat you can try for free over several days, you are fine on the web or an iPhone, and you would rather pay yearly than weekly.

Skip it if you want calm, non-sexual conversation, if you use Android and want an app, or if non-refundable subscriptions make you nervous.
