Venice AI review: a private AI workspace, not a companion app
Venice is a general AI workspace for chat, images, video and code that sells privacy: chats stay in your browser and the terms rule out training on your content.
The short version
Venice is a general AI workspace for chat, images, video and code that sells privacy: chats stay in your browser and the terms rule out training on your content. Pro costs $18 a month and unlocks the uncensored side, including NSFW images. Its terms admit users from 13 and allow uploads of real people's photos with a consent tick, so we treat it as a reference, not a pick.

What we checked on 23 and 24 October 2026
We read the pricing page, the Terms of Service (updated 8 June 2026), the Privacy Policy and the FAQ, opened the characters page and the US App Store listing, and tried to browse public characters as a guest. We did not register: Venice's terms admit users from 13, which is outside the adult-only rule we apply before testing an account.
So the chat, its memory, the Mature Filter switch and the deletion flow are described from Venice's own pages, not from use.
What Venice is
Venice is an AI workspace rather than a companion service. One prompt box gives you text chat, image and video generation, music and code across many open-source and commercial models, plus an API. Characters exist, but they are one tool among many, and logged-out visitors can't browse a public catalog.
The pitch is privacy and fewer restrictions. Chat history lives in your browser, the Privacy Policy says Venice does not see or store your prompts and outputs, and the terms say your content is not used for training.
What it costs
Free gives you 10 text and 15 image prompts a day on base models. Pro is $18 a month or $216 a year and is the plan that matters for adult use: unlimited text, 1,000 images a day, characters, and the option to switch off the Mature Filter. Pro Plus at $68 and Max at $200 are mostly about credits for video, music and premium models.
Credits have a clear value, 100 for $1, which makes media costs easy to estimate. Subscriptions and credits are non-refundable unless the law says otherwise.
Age rules and real people
Venice's terms set the minimum age at 13, with parental consent for anyone under 18; those users must not disable the mature content filter. The public pages describe no age check beyond that, and the iPhone app is rated 18+. Child sexual abuse material, including AI-generated material, is explicitly banned.
On real people, the rules point two ways. The terms forbid using someone's name, image or likeness without consent, yet the Privacy Policy lets you upload photos of real people for image and video generation once you tick a consent prompt. That is why we do not recommend Venice for adult companion use.
Billing, deletion and privacy
Plans renew automatically and are cancelled under Manage Plan; App Store and Google Play subscriptions are cancelled in those stores. The FAQ describes deletion under Settings, Profile, Manage Account, Security, and calls it permanent. Because history is local, you also have to clear it in your browser.
Venice still collects account and device data such as email, IP address and usage events. Likeness photos are processed by BytePlus in Singapore for each generation and, according to the policy, not stored.
Who it fits, and who should skip it
It fits you if you want one private, flexible AI tool for writing, images and video, and you value local history and no training on your chats.
Skip it if you want a companion app with a character catalog, memory built around one partner, or a service that is adults-only by its own terms.
Rules & privacy, in plain English
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
abuse or exploit children, including by facilitating minor grooming, trafficking, sextortion, or abuse or distributing, promoting, or celebrating material that depicts child sexual abuse (including AI-generated material)
