Is Janitor AI down? How to check the official status page

Janitor AI runs an official status page at status.janitorai.com, and its help center tells users to check it first when they are unsure whether the site is down. That page, not this one, is the source to trust: we do not monitor Janitor AI ourselves, and we will not tell you it is up or down right now.

This guide explains where Janitor posts news, how to read the common error messages using its own help center, and why a chat can fail while Janitor itself is fine. It was checked on October 23, 2026. For privacy, age rules and account deletion, see Is Janitor AI safe?.

The official channels, as listed in the help center:

• Status page: status.janitorai.com. It shows the state of the backend and the frontend separately, lists recent incidents and lets you subscribe to updates. The help article "Unsure if the site is down? Check the status page!" links to it.
• Discord: discord.com/invite/janitorai, named in the help center's Discord and subreddit FAQ.
• Subreddit: r/JanitorAI_Official, from the same FAQ.
• Website address: the help center gives janitorai.com as the official URL. Be careful with lookalike domains.

The status page separates two parts. If the frontend is fine but the backend has an incident, the site may load while chats fail. Third-party outage trackers can show whether many users report trouble, but they cannot see Janitor's servers.

Janitor's help center explains its most frequent messages:

If the status page shows no incident and you see 502 or 1033 for a long time, Janitor asks you to contact customer support.

Several problems look like an outage but are not:

• Your proxy or outside model. If you connected an outside model through API settings, that provider can fail while Janitor works. The proxy guide explains how that connection works and its risks.
• Network blocks. Cloudflare decisions depend on your network. Janitor's own Cloudflare article says the block is "usually triggered by something on your end or your network, not your Janitor account".
• Age verification. Users connecting from Australia, Brazil and the UK must complete a one-time check through k-ID, according to the age verification article. Detection is by IP address.
• Missing chats. The help center's missing chats article says some older chats were affected by server migrations. That is a data issue, not downtime.
• Mobile app content settings. According to the help center's mobile app moderation FAQ, the official app starts with NSFW content disabled to meet app store rules, so characters may look different than on the web.
• Account actions. A banned or restricted account cannot chat even when the site is up. Discord or subreddit bans are separate from site bans.

• Do not use unofficial apps. The help center says the apps it links are "the only official JanitorAI apps". Copycats can collect logins and API keys.
• Do not paste your API key into random tools that promise to fix errors or speed up replies. Your key works like a password.
• Do not use VPNs or other tricks to avoid an age check. Verification is a legal requirement in the countries listed, and getting around it breaks the rules.
• Do not buy a second subscription to test whether a paid plan fixes a server error. Paid plans do not bypass outages.
