How to remove chat filter on PolyBuzz: why there is no off switch

Editorial draft. This page demonstrates the template. Selection, recommendations and copy await review.

What the PolyBuzz NSFW filter blocks, what its terms say, why the filter exists, and where adults can find services that allow adult themes by design.

The short answer

You cannot remove it, and this page does not explain how to get around it. PolyBuzz has no setting that turns off its content rules, because the rules are part of its Terms of Use, not a preference. The terms prohibit sexual content, and the filter is how the operator enforces that.

What this page does cover: what the filter blocks, what the official documents say, why it exists, and what an adult who wants adult themes can do instead. It is based on the PolyBuzz terms and privacy policy (both last updated June 1, 2026) and the official FAQ, checked on October 23, 2026. We did not test moderation.

Does PolyBuzz have a filter?

Yes. The FAQ answers the question "Does PolyBuzz have a NSFW filter?" directly: PolyBuzz "strictly prohibit[s] public display of NSFW content", and "all recommended content undergoes multi-layered AI screening and human moderation".

The community guidelines inside the terms go further than public display. They prohibit content that "depicts pornography or sexual acts" or "solicits sexual content or activity", and state "zero tolerance" for any sexual content involving minors. The terms also let PolyBuzz reject uploads and block or delete content "without prior notice".

How the filter works

From the official documents, moderation has three layers:

  1. Screening of public content. Characters and content that can be recommended to other users pass automated screening and human review, according to the FAQ.
  2. Character flags. A character marked "Violation" becomes visible only to its creator. The FAQ lists pornography, minors, inappropriate language and sensitive topics as common reasons. The creator can edit and resubmit it.
  3. Reports. Users can report material, and the FAQ says PolyBuzz will "take prompt action".

In private chats, a reply that stops, changes topic or refuses is the visible side of the same rules. The FAQ says chats are private from other users, but the privacy policy treats your input text as data the company collects and shares with service providers to generate replies. In other words, private from people, not from the system.

The FAQ also describes "graded modes for different age groups", including a separate mode for users under 18, while the terms set an 18+ minimum. We flag that mismatch in Is PolyBuzz safe?; either way, no mode in the official documents permits sexual content.

What is the PolyBuzz compliance policy, and what is Pure mode?

Many searches ask how to "turn off" a PolyBuzz compliance policy or what Pure mode is. On October 23, 2026, we found no document titled "compliance policy" and no description of a "Pure mode" in the PolyBuzz terms, privacy policy or FAQ.

The only section called a compliance policy in the terms is the DMCA (Copyright) Compliance Policy, which covers copyright claims, not chat content. If the app shows you a notice about compliance or a pure or safe mode, it refers to the same content rules described above. Those rules apply to every account, so there is nothing to switch off.

Why the filter exists

The filter is a policy decision by the operator, not a technical fault. Several published facts explain it:

  • App stores. PolyBuzz is distributed through mobile app stores, which restrict sexual content in apps. Its Android app was listed on Google Play on October 23, 2026; the iPhone app could not be found in App Store search that day (see Is PolyBuzz down?).
  • A public character library. Content created by users is recommended to other users, so it has to be screened before it spreads.
  • Age checks are limited. Outside the UK, age is confirmed by entering a date of birth. In the UK, the privacy policy describes mandatory verification through Ondato and Yoti under the Online Safety Act. Where an age check is a self-declaration, a content filter is the main protection for anyone who should not be there.
  • Legal exposure. The terms name a Hong Kong operator serving users in many countries, each with its own rules on sexual content and minors.

Why we do not publish workarounds

Searches like "how to uncensor PolyBuzz" and "PolyBuzz filter bypass problems" lead to prompt tricks, modified apps and paid "unlock" offers. We do not cover them, for three reasons:

  1. It breaks the terms. The terms prohibit sexual content and allow PolyBuzz to remove content and suspend accounts. A workaround puts your account and any paid plan at risk, and the terms limit refunds.
  2. The filter protects people. On a service with mixed ages and self-declared birthdays, the filter is the main barrier against sexual content reaching minors.
  3. Workaround offers are a security risk. Modified installers and "unlock" sites ask for your login or install code you cannot inspect.

The "problems" people report with bypass attempts are the filter doing what the terms say it will do.

What adults can do instead

If you are 18 or older and want adult themes, the honest route is a service whose own terms allow them for verified adults, rather than one that prohibits them. When comparing, look for:

  • Terms that explicitly allow adult content between fictional adult characters, for age-confirmed users.
  • Clear bans on content involving minors or anything that looks like them, and on real, identifiable people.
  • A described age check, and an explanation of what data the verification provider keeps.
  • A deletion path and a privacy policy that names the operator.

Our PolyBuzz alternatives page applies these criteria using each service's official documents. For a wider view, see NSFW AI chat and the roleplay category. For general privacy questions, read the AI companion privacy guide.
