Candy AI publishes more legal detail than most companion apps, and that detail explains why people search for Candy AI alternatives. The free plan is 5 messages in total. Premium is priced in USD: $3.99 a month billed $47.88 a year on a promotional yearly plan, or $9.99 for the first month and then $13.99 a month (checked October 23, 2026). Per-feature token costs are not public, and unused tokens expire when a plan ends. Refunds are limited to 24 hours and 20 tokens, and the privacy notice allows de-identified chats to train models.

The four companions below improve on at least one of those points.

• Secrets AI. The most direct answer to Candy AI's 5-message limit: the free tier allows 20 messages a day. Premium costs $19.99 a month or $109.99 a year (official wiki, October 23, 2026), image generation runs with no photo uploads, and chat history is deleted on account deletion. Like Candy AI, it lists model training among data uses.
• Nectar AI (https://nectar.ai/). Its plan data, loaded on the homepage on October 23, 2026, lists a free tier of 15 messages and 10 image generations a day, paid tiers up to Ultimate and credit packs from $4.99. The FAQ says content is not used to train external models, and image uploads in character creation are not permitted. Its official pages disagree on age rules and list both list and discounted prices. Official site: nectar.ai.
• Kindroid (https://kindroid.ai/). For people bothered by Candy AI's data terms: Kindroid's privacy policy says personal data is not sold or shared, and chats and media are kept until you delete a Kin or the account. Uploading images of anyone other than yourself is banned. Prices are shown only at checkout. Official site: kindroid.ai.
• Nomi (https://nomi.ai/). A memory-focused companion for people who want conversation more than media. Nomi's only published USD prices come from a March 2026 official blog post ($15.99 a month or $99.99 a year), and the privacy policy says personal information is not sold or rented. Archived communications remain after deletion. Official site: nomi.ai.

• A very short free trial. 5 messages in total before a subscription is needed.
• A promotional headline price. The $3.99 a month needs $47.88 upfront for a year; the monthly plan renews at $13.99 after a $9.99 first month, and Premium Plus prices are not public.
• Costs you cannot plan. Premium includes 100 tokens a month, per-feature token costs are not public, top-up prices sit inside the logged-in store, and unused tokens expire when the plan ends.
• Narrow refunds. Only within 24 hours and only if no more than 20 tokens were used.
• Data use. De-identified chats may train AI and moderation models, third-party model providers may receive message content, and account data is generally kept three years after your last activity.
• Billing name. The charge shows as "EverAI" on bank statements, which some people do not recognise.

Candy AI also does several things well: no photo uploads, explicit bans on deepfakes, and cancellation in Settings. Any alternative should match those basics.

Candy AI and Secrets AI use an age gate, with more checks where law requires or on request. Nectar AI limits its NSFW mode to verified adults. Kindroid can ask for a Yoti check. Nomi is 18+ only and defines every Nomi as an adult.

• You want a free Candy AI alternative: Secrets AI's 20 messages a day go further than Candy AI's 5 in total. Nectar AI's plan data lists 15 messages and 10 images a day; Kindroid's free limits are not published.
• You want every tier priced in public: Secrets AI publishes all tiers and its Moment top-up price; Candy AI does not publish Premium Plus or token pack prices. Nectar AI shows list and discounted prices, and we could not confirm which one checkout uses.
• You want less data used for training: Nectar AI rules out training external models; Kindroid and Nomi say they do not sell personal data. None of the picks publishes a full training opt-out.
